Disclaimer: Harry Potter characters are the property of J.K. Rowling and Bloomsbury/Scholastic. No profit is being made, and no copyright infringement is intended.
Notes: I had a lot of fun writing this, but I'll be honest, most of the fun was the research. I think every non-magical place mentioned here is or was a real place. Thank you [livejournal.com profile] themightyflynn for the simple and inspiring prompt. Thank you #1 for being there at every stage and giving thoughtful, excellent advice despite your own hectic schedule. Thank you #2 for tsking at my 'meter's and saving me from myself by favouring a poetic title. [x]

Summary: Finding post-war life more difficult than he'd imagined, Harry travels halfway around the world to find some peace. He also finds Malfoy, art, adventure, the ocean, and himself. (Not necessarily in that order.)

Wow this story was brilliant, amazing just wonderful and made me so happy when reading about them.

So realistic how they slowly fell in love.

I adored each and every word the ending was sweet and very hopeful.

Thank you!

That was completely lovely.

I love how they were in New Zealand, how free and honest. It was as if they left a huge weight back home and they were willing to just be whoever they wanted, actually, that's what the story was about. About who they wanted to be without any expectations.

I love their growing friendship, the way they gave each other a change, how it came almost naturally for them. :)

I love the routine they had, all those amazing places Draco showed him. I did feel Draco was trying to prove a point, but he seemed so happy and carefree, even when he was being a bit reckless, I couldn't help but smile along with Harry. I did love that Harry asked him to be more careful, to make better choices, not just different choices.

I love that Draco was honest and admitted it was hard for him, the idea of being with Harry, but I think they also make each other brave, and they will make each other happy, back home, too, and it seems they are ready. :D Completely lovely, mystery author! Thank you. <33

Oh my God, MA, I am absolutely melting!

This is so beautiful! I loved how carefree and young Draco is in this! This is the type of Draco I can really see someone like Harry falling hopelessly in love with.

And that ending! I honestly thought you were gong to give it a cruddy ending, but this is just perfect. It's realistic and grounding compared to how flighty they had been, and also not overly sweet, which is a nice balance. Thank you, MA!

Aww, yay! I'm so pleased you enjoyed it. The ending has to do the story justice, and though it might be the end of their time in New Zealand, they can't ignore there's a lot more to come yet. ♥

this is pure gold!
and i adore all the details you provided- i had to check some of them but as you were able to put names in and i saw the locations - thank you internet- and just awesome!
but then there is also the way you describe them and the way where there is truth and reality and where is hope and dream and a life that is easy!
this is just so good
i especially liked the part where harry told draco that he is reckless and that that was not what good decisions were about
but also the climbing scene and the beginning of course it dragged me right in!
thanks a lot for this awesome story MA you did a absolutely stunning work!

I love this story. I needed some good escapism (ha!) and this just hit the spot. I love the descriptions both of the sights and the boys' development, the slow build, and the contrast of "normal" friends like Kiri, Taine, and Harper after all the overbearingness of fanon!Hermione and Ron.

Thanks, MA!

Thank you, i'm happy i could provide a spot of escapism for you! ♥

This was an amazing read! It felt comfy, you know? Like the whole beach vibe throughout and the feeling you get when you're on vacation and fantasize about starting over somewhere was really prevalent. I adored the freedom both of the boys felt and their adventures Draco took them on. I love the way they pushed each other, and that Harry was worried about Draco's recklessness. I absolutely adore reading fics like this where Draco just shucks everything, all his masks and just exists and experiences being a carefree teenager on the cusp of life. I love reading about Draco enjoying life and laughing! I loved Harry's progression from bitterness and running away from everything, to being ready to return with Draco. I loved the atmosphere you put them in, and the side characters and their pub game was so cute! The idea of Harry and Draco together at a farmer's market is so heartwarming, and it made my heart melt. I looooved Draco taking the brewery tour and immediately wanting to open one, only to become enthralled with the idea of becoming a windsurfer! All of the little details made this really vivid in a lovely way. I really loved the way you wrote their kisses, that first one was so sweet and romantic and the one the next day was amazing.

Also, I'm particularly fond of their conversation of what Harry could be (the rentboy comment lol!!!!) because I love the self-awareness of it all, and it makes me smile!

Thank you, MA, for such a wonderful, perfect read!

This is a wonderful fic. I like how Harry feels more and more attracted to Draco. And I love Draco`s carefree behaviour but also that harry is able to see through that and makes Draco notice that he is being reckless.

This story was an incredible read. I always admire authors that are able to write such long and wonderful fics for fests! I loved your characterization of Draco here, he just seems so relaxed. You wrote everything so realistic and believable. Nicely done <3

oh, that was so sweet and lovely. i enjoyed their exploration of Dunedin (now I want to visit it myself!), and I enjoyed their explorations of themselves and each other. I love how they were both simultaneously bold and tentative with one another -- and with themselves. I picture them happy together forever -- with a summer house in Dunedin!

[identity profile] disapparater.livejournal.com 2016-10-16 03:50 pm (UTC)(link)
I also want to visit Dunedin, i feel like i know my way around already! A summer house in Dunedin is not far off what i image for them, too! ♥
